Hiking equipment can range from the basics to the advanced. From simple to complex. And different hiking situations can require different equipment. For example if it is a simple mostly flat hike in the arid southwest, you will need less ropes and heavy weather gear then in a mountainous area. But hiking in the sun presents it’s own problems with the need for extra water to stay hydrated and maybe even portable shade systems. But all hikes have some basic requirements.
