Eureka Opera House

Built in 1880 and recently restored, the Eureka Opera House today functions as a Convention, Cultural Arts and Meetings venue. When it opened it provided the town of Eureka an elegant event location for plays, masquerade balls, dances, operas, concerts plus other social and civic events. With the introduction of the movies in 1915, the newly renamed Eureka Theater first offered silent movies and later talkies. Movies were stopped in the 1950s.

Following remodeling in 1993 into the current Convention and Meeting facilities, and returning to the original name of Eureka Opera House, the building provides big city amenities in a small town atmosphere. The main areas of the Opera House today are:

Grand Hall Auditorium which can accommodate 300 people in a theater style arrangement or 150 people at banquet tables. Additionally the horseshoe shaped balcony offers permanent 64 person seating. Capable of hosting conventions, theater productions, banquets or community gathers, the Grand Hall is both elegant and functional.

Two additional smaller meeting rooms, the Diamond and Prospect can provide comfortable gatherings for up to 50 people depending on the desired seating arrangements. They also serve as a permanent fine arts display gallery for the Opera House’s collection plus for traveling exhibits visiting town.

The grandiose external red brick facade with tall slender pillars supporting an open air second story desk brings the visitor face to face with late 1880, early 1990 pioneer look and feel.
