Thunderbird Lodge National Historic Site

Come and explore Thunderbird Lodge National Historic Site, Lake Tahoe’s Castle-in-the-Sky. The historic Lake Tahoe estate and gardens are open for public guided tours, by land or water, on Tuesdays through Saturdays from late May through October. Private group tours are available year-round.

The magical Thunderbird Lodge National Historic Site is the centerpiece of Thunderbird Lake Tahoe. This historic home of George Whittell, Jr. is a museum and learning center for the charitable programs of the non-profit Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society.

The house and gardens are open for public guided tours on Tuesday through Saturday from May through October. Private group tours are available year-round.

Thunderbird Lodge is a historic landmark at-risk. Thunderbird Lake Tahoe receives no government support and is funded entirely by gifts from friends like you.
