Nye Gold Seekers is a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) membership organization dedicated to preserving the history of mining and with the knowledge and surroundings necessary to teach certain placer mining technique and skill sets to its members. These teachings are conducted both in a classroom, and on the Nye Gold Seekers Club Mining claim in the Johnnie Mining District in Southern Nevada. Accordingly, at the heart of the Nye Gold Seekers organization is the teaching of mining, and mine safety to its members, and the preservation and protection of the environment.
Volunteers are needed to work the NGS booth at all events. Sign-up sheets are available at the general meetings.
Poker chips, with a gold nugget attached to each, are available for purchase at Nye Gold Seekers general meetings and events. The poker chip can be used to check the effectiveness of a metal detector in picking up gold. The price of the poker chip is $10.00 for members and $12.00 for non-members. Choose between one with a hole for use with a lanyard or one without a hole.
