The Gold Searchers of Southern Nevada is a non-profit organization based in the Henderson, Nevada area. Our club conducts monthly meetings as well as monthly outings as weather permits.
Our members are very diverse with some having backgrounds in fields such as geology, mineralogy and mine engineering. Some use metal detectors while others use prospecting equipment such as a dry washer or a recirculating sluice.
We have several gold-bearing claims which are all located within a 1-2 hour drive of the Las Vegas area. All claims are accessible by car and most if not all have cellular phone service.
General meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at The McCaw School of Mines in Henderson, NV.
he club also has prospecting equipment available for check out to all members. We currently have metal detectors, dry washers, sluice boxes and other prospecting equipment available and encourage our members to try different tools and techniques for gold recovery. For more information on this please see our Equipment Checkout page.
There is a wealth of knowledge to be gained and friendships to made but finding gold is not our sole priority. A major goal of the GSSN is education. We teach our members to respect the land while they have fun searching for gold. We show the government agencies that manage public land that recreational gold prospecting can be done in a responsible manner and voice our opinion on matters such as land use and mining laws. Club members participate in public service activities such as fencing and securing abandoned mine shafts and teaching scouts and public school students about the mining industry, minerals and gold panning.
Please see website to contact current club officers about memberships and field trips.
